I would like to present a new search engine that Newshosting Client offers to its users.
If you are new in newsgroups then you should know that there are tons of all kinds of articles. Tons is not enough to say, a better word is billions. Many of them contain files such as pictures, music or movies. It is hard to image how big resource of all these files are actually newsgroups. I will only say that on one of the most popular newsgroups with music, people are posting more than 60 000 music files per month. Usenet Providers offers every month bigger and bigger archive of all posted files. To find an interesting movie/music or any other item you can use many different ways. One of them is a new program offered by Newshosting for its clients for free, this software is called Newshosting Client. It is a user friendly application that allows you to search newsgroups, to some extent like google but applying only to newsgroups. Setup is very simple and after completion NC(Newshosting Client) connects to the server and shows article names from selected newsgroups. You can see and order posts by their names, sizes, poster, date and even by file type (icons show the kind of file: video/audio/iso image/image/software/document). Most posters add to post extra *.info file. This is text information with details concerning posting files. If *.info file is added to a post then using NC you can easily view it (messages with it are marked with a special icon). Newshosting Client offers two kinds of search, simple for all newsgroups where you can set only interesting phrases,and more advanced limited to one newsgroup where you can search by phrase, size or time. All results can be filtered by file type. The NC offers minimum values, it is fast and sometimes really helps when you are in search trouble. But it is not a tiger with its power, rather a small cat that wakes up in the morning asking for milk ;) PS For a long time I was using Easynews Global Search - this is a web search monster, with many, many options, even with thumbnails from every movie - this is a tiger. Only one its defect was the limit of archive (retention) up to 200 days for web access. The choice is yours: a cat or a tiger in a cage. |
